ISL Global Security Meeting 2009

Under the patronage of BMVG (Bundesministerium der Verteidigung) and DGA (Délégation Générale de l’Armement), ISL will organise in 2009 the first ISL Global Security Meeting.

The aim of the ISL Global Security Meeting is to give an overview of our know-how in the field of Security and in the following fields:

  • area surveillance, sensor network technology, active imaging, imaging processing, reconnaissance in urban environments;
  • communication in noisy environments, sniper detection;
  • explosive detection, synthesis of material for detection, theory and experiments on nuclear quadrupole resonance detectors;
  • high-power microwaves for the neutralisation of explosive devices;
  • fundamental research on IED threats and the development of protective means.

This meeting should promote the emergence of future cooperation with academia and industry. GSM will also allow a feedback on ISL security research activities. By identifying the needs in the Security domain, ISL will be able to improve its expertise, to develop research on new concepts and to design new prototypes.

The need for science, solutions and innovation to counter the different forms of terrorist threats is of crucial importance. It is necessary to how the potential of the European research and to use it in order to increase Security.
