Chercheur / Post-doc en navigation radio/satellite et PNT (H/F)
L’Institut franco-allemand de recherches de Saint-Louis (ISL), situé en France au cœur de la région des Trois Frontières, aux portes de l’Allemagne et de la Suisse, est un organisme de recherches reconnu au niveau international et fortement ancré dans un réseau scientifique et industriel global.
Nos axes de recherches mettent l’accent sur différents thèmes : aérodynamique, matériaux énergétiques et avancés, lasers et technologies électromagnétiques, protection, sécurité et conscience de la situation.
Notre champ d’activités va de la recherche fondamentale à la recherche tournée vers l’application.
Nous recherchons dès que possible un chercheur / post-doc en Navigation radio / satellite en PNT général (Positionnement, Navigation et Temps) pour le groupe scientifique NSC (Navigation, Sensors and Communication).
Ce groupe scientifique réalise des recherches dans les domaines suivants :
- Navigation radio et inertielle, solutions PNT alternatives (positionnement, navigation, timing) en particulier pour les emplois dans des environnements durcis par le brouillage et le spoofing (environnement sans GNSS ou contesté)
- Antennes et spécifiquement les antennes guidées par électronique (CRPA), antennes conformes/miniaturisées, liaisons de données
- Têtes militaires passives à micro-ondes, technologie de mesure des antennes
- Mesures et designs de réduction de la signature radar
- Capteurs et électronique durcis aux chocs
Vos missions / activités
- Vous concevez la nouvelle génération de solutions de navigation résilientes pour des effecteurs avancés, tels que les projectiles guidés, missiles, roquettes, ou drones / UAV et essaims
- Vous supervisez et réalisez les études théoriques et expérimentales pour des systèmes de navigation conçus pour des conditions de combat
- Vous conduisez des recherches dans la littérature scientifique, les brevets et les pratiques et applications du moment, ainsi que du benchmarking
- Vous développez et mettez en application des logiciels et des algorithmes modernes, ainsi que des des méthodes et des théories permettant de développer des solutions pour :
- La navigation radio classique et satellite (côté récepteur)
- Des méthodes alternatives d’acquisition de position, vitesse ou temps tel que LEO-PNT ou les Signaux opportunités (SoP)
- Les procédures d’évaluation comme les filtres de Kalman et fusion de données basée sur l’IA
- Une meilleure robustesse face aux contre-mesures électroniques telles que le spoofing, le brouillage et le leurrage
- Vous analysez, validez et suivez les résultats des travaux de recherches
- Vous gérez et livrez les résultats des contrats de recherche (acquisition, planification et préparation des contrats, gestion des activités de recherches), ainsi que des campagnes d’essais
- Vous entretenez et élargissez le réseau de contacts avec le monde scientifique, les universités, les instituts de recherches, l’industrie de défense, les centres d’essais militaires et les utilisateurs dans votre domaine scientifique
- Vous définissez les méthodes d’analyse technique, vous réalisez des tests indépendants en laboratoire et sur le terrain en partie avec des industriels partenaires et sur des terrains d’essai militaires
- Vous documentez, publiez et présentez les résultats scientifiques dans le cadre d’évènements internes ou externes (chez des clients ou partenaires, lors de congrès, salons, dans des publications spécialisées et des groupes de travail)
- Vous accompagnez et dirigez des stagiaires, des étudiants en bachelor ou master, ainsi que des doctorants
- Vous apportez votre soutien au chef de groupe afin d’actualiser la feuille de route scientifique stratégique, les jalons et les investissements scientifiques prévus
Votre profil
- Doctorat en électronique, télécommunications, géo-informatique, sciences informatiques ou tout autre doctorat similaire
- Connaissances et compétences approfondies dans les domaines suivants :
- Navigation radio ou satellite ou PNT général
- Traitement de signaux GNSS, Filtrage de Kalman (EKF) et fusion de données générale – aussi bien matériels que logiciels
- Programmation sur Python, C++, Matlab
- Des connaissances supplémentaires dans des domaines annexes tels que les outils et méthodes IA, la navigation inertielle et couplée, LEO-PNT, les technologies hautes fréquences / CRPA et la conception de circuits seront considérées comme un atout.
- Vous suivez avec grand intérêt les nouvelles tendances dans le domaine militaire, et tout particulièrement la guerre de la navigation et la guerre électronique
- Capacité à communiquer et à travailler efficacement au sein d’une équipe, capacité à prendre des initiatives et à faire preuve de souplesse et d’organisation
- Très bonne maîtrise de l’anglais. Des connaissances en allemand sont considérées comme un atout mais ne sont pas indispensables. Vous avez des facilités dans la rédaction d’articles scientifiques, aussi bien en français qu’en anglais
Contrat proposé : CDD de 5 ans renouvelable en CDI.

Unsere Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf verschiedenen sicherheits- und verteidigungsrelevanten Gebieten: Energetische Stoffe und fortschrittliche Schutzmaterialien, Intelligente Munition, Laser und elektromagnetische Technologien,Technologien für Schutz, Sicherheit und Lageerfassung. Für unsere Gruppe NSC (Navigation, Sensors and Communication) suchen wir zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine/n Wissenschaftler/in / Post-Doc im Bereich Funk- / Satellitennavigation und generelle PNT (Ortungs-, Navigations- und Zeitdienste)
Die Gruppe ist zuständig für die Forschung auf den Gebieten:
- Radio-/Satelliten- und Inertialnavigation sowie alternative PNT (Position, Navigation, Timing), insbesondere für Einsätze unter gegnerischen Störmaßnahmen durch Jamming und Spoofing (GNSS-denied / contested)
- Antennen, insbesondere elektronisch steuerbare Antennen (CRPA), konforme/miniaturisierte Antennen, Datenlinks
- Passive Mikrowellensuchköpfe und Antennenmesstechnik
- Signatur reduzierende Maßnahmen und Designs
- Schock-gehärtete Sensoren, Elektronik
Ihre Aufgaben
- Arbeit an der nächsten Generation resilienter Navigationsansätze für fortschrittliche Effektoren wie gelenkte Geschosse, Flugkörper, Raketen oder Drohnen / UAVs und Schwärme
- Betreuung und Erstellung theoretischer und experimenteller Untersuchungen von Navigationssystemen für den Kampfeinsatz
- Literaturstudien zu wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichungen, Patenten, aktuellen Verfahren und Anwendungen, Benchmarking
- Entwicklung und Verwendung moderner Algorithmen und Software, Methoden und Theorien zur Entwicklung von Lösungen für:
- Klassische Funk- und Satelliten-Navigation (Empfängerseite)
- Alternative Erfassungsmethoden für Position, Geschwindigkeit und Zeit wie LEO-PNT oder SoP (Signals of opportunity)
- Bewertungsverfahren wie Kalman-Filter und KI-basierte Datenfusion
- Härtung gegen elektronische Gegenmaßnahmen wie Spoofing, Jamming oder Meaconing
- Analyse, Validierung und Weiterverfolgung wissenschaftlicher Ergebnisse
- Betreuung von Forschungsverträgen (Einwerbung, Planung und Vertragsvorbereitung, Forschungsmanagement) und Leitung von Versuchsreihen
- Pflege und Ausweitung der wissenschaftlichen Vernetzung zu Hochschulen, Forschungsinstituten, Verteidigungsindustrie, wehrtechnischen Dienststellen und End-usern in Ihrem Bereich
- Definition technischer Analysemethoden, eigenständige Durchführung von Versuchen im Labor und Freifeld, teilweise mit der Industrie und wehrtechnischen Dienststellen
- Erstellung, Veröffentlichung und Präsentation der wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse bei internen und externen Veranstaltungen (mit Kunden- und Partnerunternehmen, auf Kongressen, Fachmessen, in der Fachliteratur und in Arbeitsgruppen)
- Betreuung von Praktikanten/-innen Bachelor-,und Masterstudenten/-innen sowie Doktoranden/-innen
- Unterstützung der Gruppenleitung bei der Aktualisierung der strategischen wissenschaftlichen Roadmap, der Forschungs- und Investitionsplanung
Damit überzeugen Sie uns
- Promotion in Elektroingenieurwesen, Telekommunikation, Geoinformatik, Informatik oder vergleichbarem Fachbereich
- Profunde Kenntnisse in:
- Funk-oder Satelliten-Navigation oder allgemeinen PNT
- GNSS-Signalverarbeitung, Kalman-Filterung (EFK) und allgemeine Kenntnisse in Datenfusion – Software und Hardware
- Programmierung mit Phyton, C++, Matlab
- Zusätzliche Kenntnisse in damit verbundenen Bereichen wie KI-Methoden und Tools, Trägheits- und gekoppelte Navigation, LEO-PNT, Hochfrequenz / CRPA-Technology oder Schaltkreisentwicklung wäre von Vorteil.
- Sie verfolgen mit Interesse neue militärische Trends, insbesondere hinsichtlich elektronischer und navigationsbasierter Kriegsführung
- Sie zeichnen sich durch Kommunikations- und Teamfähigkeit, Eigeninitiative, organisatorische Fähigkeiten und Flexibilität aus.
- Sie haben sehr gute Englischkenntnisse. Kenntnisse der französischen Sprache sind von Vorteil, aber kein Muss. Sie verfassen wissenschaftliche Artikel in Englisch und Deutsch sowie ggf. in Französisch

For immediate placement, we are currently looking for a Research scientist / Post-Doc specialised in Radio / Satellite Navigation and general PNT (Positioning, Navigation and Timing) (m/w/d) for the NSC (Navigation, Sensors and Communication) group.
- This scientific group carries out research on the following subjects:
Radio and inertial navigation and alternative PNT (Positioning, Navigation, Timing) especially for missions under countermeasures
such as jamming and spoofing (GNSS-denied und contested environment) - Antennas, especially electronically guided antennas (CRPA), conform/miniaturised antennas, data-links
- Passive microwave seekers and antenna measurement technology
- Measures and designs for signature reduction
- Shock-hardened sensors, electronics
Your new tasks and responsibilities – challenging and future-oriented
- Work on the next generation of resilient navigation solutions for advanced effectors like guided projectiles, missiles, rockets or drones / UAVs and swarms
- Supervise and conduct theoretical and experimental studies for systems designed for navigation warfare conditions
- Research in scientific literature, patents, current practices and applications, benchmarking
- Development and application of modern algorithms and software, methods and theories in order to develop solutions for:
- Classical radio and satellite navigation (receiver side)
- Alternative acquisition methods of position, speed and time like LEO-PNT or Signals of Opportunity (SoP)
- Assessment procedures like Kalman filters and AI-based data fusion
- Ruggedness against electronic countermeasures such as spoofing, jamming or meaconing
- Analyse, validate and track the progress of research results
- Manage and deliver on research contracts (acquiring, planning and preparing contracts, managing research activities) and direct test campaigns
- Maintain and expand the scientific network with academia, research institutes, defence industry, military test sites and end-users in your domain
- Define technical analysis methods, carry out independent tests in laboratory or in the field, partly with industry partners and military proving grounds
- Document, publish and present scientific results on internal and external events (with clients and partners, in congresses, fairs, in specialised publications and working groups)
- Mentor and supervise interns, bachelor, master and doctoral students
- Support the team leader in drafting updates to the strategic scientific roadmap, milestones and planned scientific investments
Your qualifications – solid and appropriate
- Ph.D. in electric engineering, telecommunications, geo-informatics, computer science or any comparable PhD
- Deep knowledge in the following fields:
- Radio or satellite navigation or general PNT
- GNSS-signal processing, Kalman-Filtering (EKF) and general data fusion knowledge – both on the soft- and hardware
- Programming with Python, C++, Matlab
- Additional knowledge in in related fields like AI methods and tools, inertial and coupled navigation, LEO-PNT, high-frequency / CRPA technology or circuit design could be an asset
- You follow with high interest the new military trends, especially regarding electronic and navigation warfare
- Ability to communicate and to work effectively as part of a team, ability to take initiatives and to exercise flexibility, good organizational skills
- Very good command of English. A good command of French and/or German would be an advantage. Ability to write easily scientific articles in English and German/French
