For immediate placement, we are currently looking for a Research engineer in semiconductor processing techniques (m/f/d) to work in our scientific group “pulsed power technologies”.

 

Field of activity

The group investigates and develops pulsed power generators up to the Gigawatt level. Your activities will cover the design of circuits for those generators and their required electronic components, the development and manufacturing of specific components, including semiconductor elements, and the characterisation of these devices under harsh conditions.

 

Your new tasks and responsibilities - challenging and future-oriented:

  • Operation of semiconductor-related techniques (photolithography, wet chemistry, Pulsed Vapor Deposition (PVD), Reactive-Ion Etching (RIE), material- and surface characterisation etc.)
  • Technical improvement of processing methods for semiconductor components (thyristors, diodes) as well as the development and optimization of individual processing steps (microstructuring, metal-semiconductor contacts, etching etc.)
  • Measurements for monitoring the process control (microscopy (including 3D), profilometer, I-V-characterization etc.)
  • Automation of data processing to analyse 4"-wafers
  • CAD based design of photolithography masks
  • Documentation of experiments, data analysis and interpretation, optimisation of processes and procedures based on experimental results, preparation of intermediate and final reports
  • Search of technical documentation (internet, literature)
  • Coordination of the organisational and technical processes related to the clean room (air conditioning, ventilation, processing techniques)

 

Your qualifications – solid and appropriate:

  • Hold a MSc or equivalent degree in engineering with focus in semiconductor techniques, microsystems, electrical engineering or metrology
  • Have an in-depth know-how and experience in :
    • processing techniques for semiconductor components
    • CAD based mask design (CleWin or similar)
    • monitoring techniques for process control
  • Ability to use informatics to monitor instruments (LabVIEW instrument driver)
  • Organizational and communication skills, team player, proactive and responsible attitude, quick decision making, flexibility
  • Excellent in English; German and French nice to have
