For immediate placement, we are currently looking for a Research scientist in aerothermodynamics (all genders) for the AMS group (Aerodynamics, Measurements and Simulations).

 

Your new tasks and responsibilities - challenging and future-oriented:

  • You will be the scientific supervisor for theoretical and experimental aerothermodynamics studies conducted in the scientific group’s facilities
  • You will take part in preparing the scientific tests conducted in ISL facilities
  • You take part in defining the operating conditions of these facilities according to the experimental conditions required (in accordance to the handling norms of dangerous gases)
  • You will take part in designing models to be used in these facilities
  • You will take part in conducting scientific measures
  • You will analyse and interpret experimental results
  • You will conduct complicated CFD numerical simulations and be in charge of interpreting the results
  • You will be involved in the drafting of technical and scientific documents for contracts
  • You will draft your own scientific reports and publications
  • You will supervise interns and doctoral students
  • You will participate in the modernising and implementing of new measurement systems as well as in the planning of scientific investments

 

Your qualifications – solid and appropriate:

  • PhD in fluid mechanics with a specialisation in aerothermodynamics
  • Deep knowledge in the following fields is required:
    • Dynamics of gases
    • Mechanics of fluids
    • Aerothermodynamics
    • Fundamental physics
    • Flight mechanics
    • Measuring techniques
  • Good communication skills: You like to work in a team, take initiatives, are a good organizer adapting easily to new situations
  • Very good command of English. A good command of French and/or German would be an advantage
